Clyde R. Buckles

Clyde R. Buckles, 78, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Pine Ridge Care Center.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Porter and Lela Buckles.
Mr. Buckles was a retired Press Operator at Inland Container. He was a member of East River Park Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Williams and Irene Bowers, and a brother, Charles Buckles.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Whitehead Buckles; three daughters, Angela Berry and husband Gary and Lora Buckles and husband Matt, all of Elizabethton, and Melissa “Missy” Woods and husband John, Kingsport; eight grandchildren, Jessica Franklin and husband Andy, Heather Brown, Lindsay Barnett and husband Jason, Taylor Bowman, Mikaela Woods, Chandler Woods, Sydney Buckles and Macy Woods; five great-grandchildren, Caleb Franklin, Landen Brown, Addison Barnett, Weston Franklin and Natalee Barnett; and three sisters, Eva Oliver, Elizabethton, Carol Start and husband Kenneth, Kingsport, and Marcella Douthat and husband Carroll of South Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Clyde Buckles will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 19, at East River Park Christian Church with Mr. Barry Pettit and Mr. John H. Smith, ministers, officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jon Woods, Chandler Woods, Andy Franklin, Caleb Franklin, Jason Barnett, Landen Brown, Matt Buckles, Gary Paul Berry, Hartsell Edwards and Paul Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Turner, Gene Bowman, Dick Cain, Don Woods and Eddie Taylor. The family will receive friends at the church from noon until the service hour. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Pine Ridge Care Center for the excellent care and concern that was shown during his duration there.
