Helen Jenkins Whisner

Mrs. Helen Jenkins Whisner, 706 Poplar Street, Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Helen was born August 24, 1929 in Appalachia, Va., and had lived most of her life in Carter County.
Helen was employed before retirement in the Housekeeping Department at Johnson City Memorial Hospital. She also worked for some time at Hillview Health Center. She was a member of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Eugene Ward and Hubert Whisner, and a sister, Elsie Guy.
Helen is survived by special friends, Bill Barnett and family, Larry McKinney and family, Bob and Debbie Grindstaff, Mike and Carolyn Matthews and members of the First Church of God.
Graveside services for Mrs. Whisner will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Bob Shupe officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center for the excellent care she received. Friends may register their presence at the funeral home anytime after 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 6. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
