Nancy Grindstaff Stevens

Nancy Grindstaff Stevens, 67, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Mitchell County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Edd Grindstaff and Verna Garland Grindstaff Burleson. She had lived most of her life in Tennessee.
Nancy was a 1965 graduate of Science Hill High School and had an associate degree from Northeast State Community College. She retired from Levi-Strauss after 25 years of service. After retirement from there she was employed by City Bank of Gray. She was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton. She loved to read.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Trantham.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Mathes and husband Greg, Elizabethton, and Sheri Trivett and husband Ken, Johnson City; four grandchildren, Kendra McKinney and husband Corey, Danielle Lewis, Kristin Mathes and Jagger Mathes; and five brothers, Bob and Eddie Grindstaff, Perry, Larry and Harry Burleson. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Nany Grindstaff Stevens will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Burleson and the Rev. Tim Gouge officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, will be Jagger Mathes, Corey McKinney, Brian Stevens, Chris Stevens, Toby Guinn and Todd McKinney. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Tanner Payne and the doctors and nurses of the 2700 Wing ICU at Johnson City Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of a daughter, Teresa Mathes, 1615 Charity Hill Road, Elizabethton. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
