The game of football is a revolving door.

Schemes and plays that were popular in the early days have suddenly resurfaced with certain tweaks to fit today’s athlete.

It’s a cycle that Jim Hastings willingly admits he’s seen first hand.

“If you’ve been around long enough you can see the cycle,” says the 76-year old Hastings.

“I’ve been through the cycle,” said the former coach as he breaks a smile. “I’ve been around a while, but I’m not old… They were hurrying up years ago, they are just better at it now and faster. All zone read is an option, you take the wing-T and spread it out. Where do you think it came from? “
