West Greene backed out of Thursday evening’s girls soccer match with Elizabethton, leaving the Lady Cyclones without an opponent for senior night at Brown-Childress Stadium.

The Happy Valley Lady Warriors graciously stepped into the breech and gave the EHS seniors a match that the Cyclones went on to win by an 8-0 tally.

“They were willing to work with us after the late cancellation and that was really great of them,” commented Lady Cyclones head coach Bill McClay. “We have to turn around and play them on Tuesday, and we really appreciate that. They are still plugging along and playing hard and their enthusiasm seems good.
