Wanda “Jean” Tolley

Wanda “Jean” Tolley, 70, of Elizabethton, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
“Jean” was a native of Elizabethton and a 1962 graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was the owner and operator of Glamour Boutique Beauty Salon and a member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Davis and Marie Nidiffer, and a baby sister, Shirley.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Wayne Tolley; a son, Gary Wayne Tolley; a daughter and son-in-law, Missie and Bret Richardson; a grandson, Hunter Richardson, who was the light of her life; a sister-in-law, Lynda and her husband Aaron Pierce; and a brother-in-law, Glen and his wife Doris Tolley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
“Jean” never met a stranger. She always had a smile and kind words for everyone. She gave out angels and inspirational magnets to a lot of people, especially anyone that assisted with her medical care.
It is said that true wealth is measured by the number of friends you have, if so “Jean” was a very rich woman. She leaves behind her many friends. Special thanks for the great care and friendship given to her by the Johnson City Medical Center 5th Floor/5500 Wing and their dialysis unit as well as the Fresenius Dialysis Unit in Elizabethton and the employees of Hermitage Health Care Center.
A service to honor the life of Wanda “Jean” Tolley will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, September 29, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Tom Maines officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Active pallbearers will be Arthur Blevins, Darrell Simmons, Matthew Lipford, Mitchell Lipford, Bret Richardson, Keith Lipford, Danny Ward, Don Cogan and Allan Markland. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Pierce, Max Sams, Richard Campbell, Glen Tolley and Paul Tolley. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
