Danny Wilson Young, 64, of Elizabethton, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014, at Nashville VA Hospital.
A native of Smithville, Tenn., he was a son of the late Doak and Audrey Dell Young-Harris. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanna Arnold and Janis Evans. He had lived in Carter County for a number of years.
Mr. Young was a mechanical contractor.
Danny served in the United States Army for two tours during the Vietnam Era. He loved to do woodworking and listening to the Rolling Stones. He was an avid Vols Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Edwards Young; a son, Chad Young and wife Casi, Nashville; four daughters, Emily Young, Knoxville, Lindsay Young Honaker and husband Brian, Knoxville, Selina Stout and husband Shaun and Ronda Carpenter and husband Joseph, all of Elizabethton; three grandchildren, Maylie Stout, Gage Stout and Benjamin Carpenter; and a niece, Ronda Young and husband Tim, Smithville, Tenn.
Funeral services for Mr. Young will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, August 22, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The Eulogy will be given by Chad Young. Music will be provided by Sally Berry and Bill Anderson. Interment will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion and the Tennessee National Guard. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Tramel, Tim Young, Shaun Stout, Joseph Carpenter, Brian Honaker and Joe Smithdeal. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the members of Siam Baptist Church, Rhonda Vincent and the staff of the Nashville VA Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
