Grace Crawford Morrison

Grace Crawford Morrison, 90, of Watauga, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Bristol Select Hospital, following an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Lem D. and Myrtle Hendrix Humphreys. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon F. Crawford; a daughter, Edna Holderfield Easter; three brothers, Gordon S. Humphreys, Thurman E. Humphreys and Paul Humphreys; four sisters, Margie Morgan, Cleo Hess, Christine Carter and Vada Blevins; and a grandson, Ritchie Blevins.
Mrs. Morrison was a homemaker and a member of Keenburg Freewill Baptist Church. She was a songwriter and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, and her church family.
Survivors include her husband, Howard W. Morrison, of the home; a daughter, Barbara Widner, Kingsport; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two sisters, Bessie Scott, Watauga, Tenn., and Letha Dial, Elizabethton; and a brother, Leo Humphreys, Watauga, Tenn. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Morrison will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, at Keenburg Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Fleenor officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will follow in the Keenburg Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Gary Perry, Frank Richardson, Mike Glidewell, Floyd Blevins, Tim Morrison and Leon Humphrey. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Keenburg Freewill Baptist Church/Youth Fund, 135 Keenburg Road, Elizabethton, TN or to P.O. Box 1704, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
