An Elizabethton man was arrested in South Carolina Tuesday morning and returned to Carter County to

face felony charges in connection with a burglary earlier this month.
Jordan Ray Lee Elliott, 25, 378 Wilbur Dam Road, was arrested Tuesday morning by Constable Tim Lyons on a warrant taken out by Carter County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Timothy Horne charging Elliott with aggravated burglary and theft over $10,000.
According to the warrant for Elliott’s arrest obtained by Horne, the charges against Elliott stem from the investigation into a burglary which occurred on June 1 on H. Heaton Road after the victim reported to police that “numerous firearms, ammunition, ammunition reloading equipment, and other assorted military related equipment and clothing” were stolen from a building on his property. The estimated value of the missing items “exceeds $10,000” according to the arrest warrant.
“Shortly after the filing of this report, the victim traveled to the Tri-Cities Flea Market located in Bluff City, Tenn., where he discovered that a white male, later identified as Jordan Elliott, the defendant, was in possession of a large portion of the items stolen,” said Horne in the arrest warrant, adding that he was then summoned to the flea market where he spoke with both the victim and the suspect.
Horne said in the warrant that when he spoke with Elliott, the man contended he had purchased the items the previous day from another individual and he provided a name to Horne at that time. “The defendant, in lieu of immediate arrest, agreed to cooperate with this investigation in order to aid in actually identifying who he had purchased these items from,” Horne said in the warrant.
As the investigation progressed, Horne said in the warrant, he found a witness who reported seeing Elliott’s vehicle at the scene of the burglary on the day before the burglary was discovered by the victim. The warrant for Elliott’s arrest was taken out by Horne on June 9.
In his report on Elliott’s arrest, Lyons said he and Constable Mark Carrier traveled to Conway, S.C., to take Elliott into custody and then transported him back to the Carter County Detention Center.
Elliott was arrested by South Carolina authorities and booked into the detention center in Conway, S.C., on June 13. At a court hearing in South Carolina, Elliott waived extradition to Tennessee to face the charges in Carter County.
Elliott was booked into the Carter County Detention Center on Tuesday but was later released on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Carter County General Sessions Court on August 18.
