Shelby Lyons, age 83, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on May 1, 2025, after a short battle with cancer and walked into the arms of his loving savior.

Shelby was born Sept. 24, 1941, to the late Alvin and Pauline Arrowood Lyons. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Lovette.

Shelby had been retired for several years from City View Apartments maintenance. Before that, he had worked at Bemberg, Milligan College and Watauga Industries. After retirement, he had worked for the Salvation Army and Ingles for a brief period. He loved being around people and telling his big stories, his Lady Vols and Dallas Cowboys.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 43 years, Linda Watson Lyons, and her daughter, Heather Hughes; his daughters, Donna Ward and her husband, Danny, and Crystal Berry and her husband, Jonah; two grandchildren, Nathan Ward and Summer Hyden and her husband, Michael; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Ellie and Hayes Hyden. He is also survived by three brothers, Ray Lyons, Sam Lyons and Jerry Lyons, and one sister, Charlotte Byers.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Anyone wanting to attend will meet at Memorial Funeral Chapel at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday and go in procession to Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Nathan Ward, Jonah Berry, Michael Hyden and others chosen from family.
