JOHNSON CITY — A Johnson City woman was arrested after police determined she falsely reported a robbery involving a stolen business deposit, leading to the arrest of a second suspect and the recovery of the stolen money.

On May 2 at approximately 12:50 p.m., officers with the Johnson City Police Department responded to 607 Twin Oaks Drive regarding a report of a robbery that allegedly occurred at another location. The woman, identified as April Trinchera, 35, told police she was stopped at a red light at the intersection of University Parkway and West State of Franklin when a man reached into her vehicle and stole her backpack. She claimed the bag contained a business deposit, her phone and her wallet with more than $300 inside.

During the investigation, officers determined the report was false and identified Trinchera as a suspect. She was arrested and charged with false reporting and theft over $2,500.

Further investigation led officers to a local motel, where they executed a search warrant at a room occupied by Timothy Cohran, 43, of Johnson City. Officers located the stolen money inside the room and arrested Cohran. He was also charged with theft over $2,500.

Both Trinchera and Cohran were transported to the Washington County Detention Center.
