Many women spend years searching for answers to chronic pelvic pain. Others face treatment options that force them to choose between a hysterectomy or medications that cause menopause.

ETSU Health is proud to provide expert minimally invasive gynecologic surgery to help better meet these needs within the community.

Dr. Salvatore Paolillo has joined ETSU Health’s OB/GYN clinic in Johnson City. He is fellowship-trained in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, meaning that he has the highest level of specialty training.

Minimally invasive surgery includes laparoscopic and robotic procedures, which allow Dr. Paolillo to perform complex surgeries with small incisions, in shorter time with less pain and faster healing.

He provides surgical treatment for conditions such as endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), cysts, fibroids, uterine polyps, scar tissue and fertility-reducing conditions.

“I enjoy getting to know my patients and being their partner in figuring out the most appropriate level of care to meet their needs,” Dr. Paolillo said. “I will take the time to understand their concerns. I listen carefully and don’t stop until they get results. I would like them to know they are validated in their symptoms and life experience, and I am here to help.”

Dr. Paolillo is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology. He earned his M.D. from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. Paolillo went on to complete his fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, New York.

ETSU Health’s Quillen College of Medicine, where Dr. Paolillo now serves as an assistant professor, has received national attention for meeting medical needs within underserved regions, including right here in Appalachia.
