The City of Elizabethton will host the Music and Miles Half Marathon this Saturday, with the race beginning at 7 a.m. and concluding at 10:30 a.m. City officials emphasize that several streets will experience temporary closures and lane restrictions to ensure the safety of runners and volunteers.

This year’s race will start and finish at Elizabethton High School to minimize disruptions downtown. The majority of the 13.1-mile route follows the Tweetsie Trail, but portions will utilize city streets and sidewalks, requiring short-term road closures during the early portion of the event.

Between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., temporary street and lane closures will be in effect along Bemberg Road, Rogosin Drive, West G Street, Hudson Drive and Jason Witten Way. Elizabethton police officers and Street Department personnel will manage traffic flow until runners pass through the T.A. Dugger Junior High area and enter the Tweetsie Trail via Holly Lane.

From there, participants will follow the trail to Blue Ridge Drive, continue along the shoulder of Highway 19E to Hatcher Lane, then return to the Tweetsie Trail. The course resumes northwest along the trail to Legacy Drive and Forsyth Drive, connects to the sidewalk along West Elk Avenue, continues to Parkway Boulevard and finishes at Citizens Bank Stadium on the high school campus.

Key road closures for the duration of the race include:

  • Legacy Drive at West G Street and Forsyth Drive

  • West Elk Avenue at Parkway Boulevard

  • West Elk Avenue at Holly Lane

Barricades will be placed at these intersections, and officers, city crews and race volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to assist with traffic direction and ensure public safety.

Motorists are urged to remain alert and exercise caution in areas near the race route. Drivers should expect brief delays and plan alternate routes where necessary.

Race organizers also remind runners to stay on the left side of the road where applicable, use sidewalks along West Elk Avenue and remain vigilant of vehicular traffic during the event.
