‘Robin Hood’ to debut May 1 at Lamplight Theatre

Throughout the ages, mankind has been in search of a hero to save them from perilous times. There is nothing more inspiring than an underdog becoming a rescuer of unfortunate souls. Such is the story of Robin Hood: An Unlikely Hero. This rousing legendary tale comes to life on the LampLight Theatre stage in downtown Kingsport this May.
This production has all the elements of the valiant adventures of the beloved Robin Hood. From bereaved orphan to trusted avenger of the poor, Robin of Loxley’s transformation is a true inspiration. As his king, Richard the Lionheart, goes off to fight in the Crusades, Robin remains loyal to the king until his return. Prince John, King Richard’s wicked brother, along with the aid of the Sheriff of Nottingham and Guy of Gisborne, is determined to steal the kingdom away. Robin, with his trusted Merry Men, is determined to take back what the enemy has stolen. A childhood love, Maid Marian, returns to the kingdom during the turmoil, and Robin is resolute to save her from the enemy as well.
Through spellbinding storytelling and enchanting music, Robin Hood: An Unlikely Hero is certain to bring back childhood memories and enthuse people of all ages. This swashbuckling chronicle contains the rudiments of sword fighting, archery and wit motivated by chivalry and love. You don’t want to miss this classic story come to life.
Performances for Robin Hood: An Unlikely Hero will be held on weekends May 1 through May 18. Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. Additional matinee performances will be held on Saturdays at 2 p.m. and on Sundays at 3 p.m. Doors will open one hour prior to performances. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, and free for children 5 years of age and under. Senior and group discounts are available.
Special event: Friday, May 16 — Renaissance Evening. Come dressed in Renaissance/Medieval attire and get in free. All LARPers are welcome. No weapons allowed.
