2025 Delta Kappa Gamma Outstanding Student Teacher Award

Miss Maggie Johnson received the prestigious Delta Kappa Gamma’s 2025 Outstanding Student Teacher Education Award from Milligan University. Miss Johnson stated that throughout her placements in local schools with mentors at Happy Valley, Towne Acres, Harold McCormick, T.A. Dugger and Elizabethton High School, as well as her professors at Milligan, she has learned what it means to be an outstanding, effective educator. She commented, “They have gone above and beyond to prepare me as an educator and leader.”

Miss Johnson is from Elizabethton, Tenn., and attends Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. She has attended Milligan University for the last three years after graduating from Walters State with an associate degree in early childhood education. Her major at Milligan is child and youth development with a minor in psychology. Her licensure is in the areas of kindergarten through fifth grade and English as a second language in kindergarten through 12th grade. She has been on Milligan University’s dean’s list and will graduate with honors. Miss Johnson is on the Milligan University softball team, and she has been selected as a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar-Athlete for the past two seasons.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society is a professional honorary society of women educators, which promotes professional and personal growth of its members and excellence in education. Dr. Fine has been a member of Delta Kappa Gamma since 1972. While living in Florida, Dr. Fine served as president of her chapter and state officer, as well as presented workshops for the teaching organization in Florida and other states. Serving with DKG in Tennessee since 2001, Dr. Fine has been honored with the Order of the Rose, which recognizes members for achievement and involvement at the chapter and state levels.
