Rev. Henry Edward Berry, 80, Hampton, went home to be with his Lord Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital, Bristol. He was born May 3, 1944, in Johnson City to the late Charlie and Mamie Vance Berry. He served in the United States Army during the mid-1960s. He retired from the laundry department at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He also had served as a pastor in the Free Will Baptist churches for 30-plus years. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Limestone Cove.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Eunice Tolley Berry; his son, Mark Berry; and his brother, Larry Berry.
Survivors include his daughter, Angie Berry Graham, of the home; one special grandson, Draven Michael Graham, of the home; and one sister, Trula Berry Sneyd, of Unicoi. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the life of Rev. Berry will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Campbell, the Rev. Terry Richardson and the Rev. John Stockton officiating. Music will be provided by Beth Stevens and the Rev. Willie Vance.
Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Berry Cemetery, Simerly Creek, Hampton. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, will be Michael Scalf, Jamie Tolley, David Tolley, Norman White, Herman Miller, Johnny Vance, the Rev. Lester Perkins and the Rev. Ed Moser. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Tolley, Paul Vance, Randy Jones, Jim Cole, Roy Tolley and the ministers of the Jack’s Creek and the Toe River Free Will Baptist Association.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
