Randy Alan Oakes

Randy Alan Oaks, 66, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. He was born May 23, 1958, in Elizabethton, Tenn., son of Raymond Howard Oaks and the late Jean Morefield Oaks.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Deborah Hicks and Teresa Byrd Reeves.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Marie Oaks of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; his father and stepmother, Ann Oaks of Elizabethton, Tenn.; one son, Casey Alan Oaks of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; one daughter, Carley Rae Ramsay and her husband, Stephen, of New River, Ariz.; brothers, Mark Oaks and his wife, Gail, of Elizabethton, Tenn., Michael Oaks of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Keith Byrd and his wife, Megan, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and two sisters, Julie Smith and husband, Todd, of Nashville, Tenn., and Teresa VonCannon and her husband, Thom, of Clayton, N.C.

Randy proudly served in the United States Navy. He was an avid golfer and a member of the International Club. He also enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, the Tennessee Vols.

A celebration of Randy’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Burroughs Funeral Home, 3558 Old Kings Hwy., Murrells Inlet, S.C. 29576. The family received friends immediately following the service.
