Despite cold temperatures and swirling winds, the Elizabethton High School track and field team turned up the heat over the weekend, with the Cyclone throwers dominating field events and freshman phenom Arvella Nave rewriting the record books at the Frank Carver Invitational.

Nave delivered a standout performance in the distance events, claiming first place in both the girls’ 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter runs. Her winning time of 11:37.48 in the 3,200 meters shattered a decade-old school record previously held by Abbigail Pierce, who set the mark at 11:53.08 in 2014.
