Elizabethton Driver Services Center to reopen April 14 after storm repairs

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security announced the Elizabethton Driver Services Center will reopen Monday, April 14, following repairs from damage caused by Hurricane Helene.

Located at 1741 Hwy. 19E Bypass, the center had been temporarily closed due to storm damage. Upon reopening, it will resume its regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.

The final day of operation for the Driver Services mobile unit at the Elizabethton Municipal Building, 136 S. Sycamore St., was Thursday, April 10. Appointments previously scheduled for the mobile unit will be honored at the permanent center.

The renovated facility features updated furniture, workstations, fresh paint, flooring, credentialing equipment and new self-service kiosks. The kiosks allow customers to complete a variety of transactions, including renewing or replacing a driver license or ID card, changing an address, updating emergency contacts, advancing a teen or graduated license, paying reinstatement fees, and requesting license reissue after meeting reinstatement requirements. The kiosks also include photo capabilities and accept Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit or debit cards.
