Rose Marie Bare Graves, age 87, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Rose was born in Elizabethton on Dec. 19, 1937, to the late Barney and Eval Pearl (Crowe) Bare. In addition to her parents, Rose was also preceded in death by her son, William Bartlett Graves; and a grandson, Matthew Russell.
Rose retired as a controller at Koons Toyota after 30 years of service and attended St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the book club, the Red Hat Society, Daughters of the Revolution, and she enjoyed playing cards with her friends.
Those left to cherish and remember Rose include her daughters, Anna Marie (Stephen) Barry of Stevensville, Maryland, and Katherine (Gary) Matthews of Charleston, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Jacob Russell, Nicholas Lund and Justin Lund; her great-grandchildren, Reese Lund and Ellie Kate Russell; two brothers, Robert Bare and Harold (Beverly) Bare, all of Elizabethton; and a sister, Charlotte Gagnon of La Plata, Maryland.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton.
A funeral Mass to honor the life of Rose Marie Bare Graves will be conducted at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church with Father Jesus Guerrero officiating. A reception will follow the funeral Mass in the church fellowship hall from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The graveside service will follow the reception at 12 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
