Youth Fiddlers Convention returns to The Crooked Road

The Crooked Road in Abingdon, Va., will host the Youth Fiddlers Convention on Saturday, May 17, at the Southwest Virginia Cultural Center & Marketplace. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with the competition beginning at 12 p.m. Registration will remain open until the end of the competition.
The competition will feature more than $1,000 in cash prizes for both individual instrumentalists and bands. Categories include folk song, clawhammer banjo, bluegrass, old-time fiddle, bluegrass fiddle, guitar, mandolin, old-time band and bluegrass band. Prizes for individual instrumentalists are:
1st place – $75
2nd place – $50
3rd place – $25
Prizes for bands are:
1st place – $150
2nd place – $100
3rd place – $75
The Youth Fiddlers Convention is hosted by The Crooked Road. The Crooked Road serves as Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail. It is made up of a driving trail spanning 330 miles, connecting 10 major music venues across the mountains of Southwest Virginia.
For the past two decades, The Crooked Road has been a vital asset for cultural tourism and economic development in Southwest Virginia.
