Food Distribution for Veterans Set for April 11 at VFW Post 2166

VFW Post 2166 and the Post Auxiliary will partner with Second Harvest Food Bank for a food distribution event for veterans and their families on Friday, April 11, at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the VFW Post located at 2001 West Elk Ave.
Veterans attending the distribution are asked to make room in their trunk for the food box and to pop their trunk when they arrive in line. Volunteers will load the food into vehicles while participants remain inside. The distribution will be contact-free to help protect the health of all involved.
In the event of inclement weather, the distribution will follow the Elizabethton City Schools schedule. If city schools are closed due to weather, the event will be canceled.
To ensure an adequate supply of food, those planning to attend are asked to register by calling Shaun Smith at the Carter County Veterans Service Office at 542-1824.
