To the Editor:
Libraries are safe spaces for those who lack the privilege to not need them. People of all ages, from different walks of life, rely on these establishments. They provide our communities with books, computer and internet access, and these days you can even obtain tangible media like DVDs and CDs. Most importantly, they can provide anyone and everyone with a quiet, safe environment when the outside world is loud and dangerous.
Community events, social gatherings — the list goes on and on — and that’s what libraries will do. These should-be relics will survive and thrive in a world where people may not realize how important they are, because those of us who do will continue to turn the pages and tell their stories.
Sincerely,
Bobby Harbuck
