Louella Russell, age 84, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at her home. Louella was born in Elizabethton to the late Elbert Adams Shankle and Ethel Rains Shankle. In addition to her parents, Louella was also preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Russell and Jeffery Russell; five brothers; and five sisters.
Those left to remember Louella include her husband of 67 years, John Russell of the home; two sons, Michael (Kathy) Russell of Elizabethton and Keith (Monte) Russell of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Tara Brooke Russell, Amanda Russell and Gethin Russell; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Louella retired as a certified nursing assistant and was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses. Louella was known for her vibrant love of life. Her infectious laughter and warm spirit lit up every room she entered. She had a unique ability to connect with people, often sharing stories that made others laugh and feel at ease. Her passion for animals was evident; she had unwavering compassion for all living creatures, treating them with kindness and love.
A true free spirit, Louella delighted in singing and dancing, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was a family gathering or a casual encounter, her zest for life uplifted those around her, leaving lasting memories woven with love.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her spirit will live on in our hearts. As we remember Louella, let us celebrate the joyous moments she has gifted us and take comfort in the knowledge that she will forever be a part of our lives.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Elizabethton/Carter County Humane Society in memory of Louella.
