Jerry Thomas Storie, age 81, of Unicoi, Tennessee, entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at his home. Jerry was born in Carter County, Tennessee, on August 23, 1943, to the late Harold Storie Sr. and Virgie (Jones) Storie. In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by brothers Harold Storie Jr., Paul Storie, Floyd Storie and Kenneth Storie; sisters, Clarice Storie and Bernese Storie Johnson; a son-in-law, Lee Campbell; brothers-in-law, Scotty Lewis, Charles Tolley, Conley Miller and Elmer Ray Roberts; and a sister-in-law, Katherine Lewis.
Jerry was employed as a roofing supervisor and was a member of Fairview Free Will Baptist Church. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, Jesus and his family so very much and always had a smile on his face, a kind word for everyone and never met a stranger. Jerry enjoyed Tennessee football, camping, fishing, racing and basketball. Jerry was also a member of the Unicoi Masonic Lodge No. 681, the Jericho Shrine Temple and the Unicoi Shrine Temple.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail Storie; his children, Melissa (Lance) Haun and Amanda (Chad) Johnson; a special niece who was like a daughter, Lisa (Stewart) Fulton; his grandchildren, Makayla (Quentin) Arnold, Noah (Hanna) Campbell, Dylan (Michelle) Campbell, Paul Johnson, Charity Johnson, Kilby (Joe) Birchfield, Kaityln (Cody) Holsclaw and Emily Bryant; sisters, Carolyn Boggs and Freida McKinney; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Larry) Stanley, Pat Miller, Joyce (Charles) Arnett, Linda Sliger and Charlotte Tolley; and a brother-in-law, Roy Tolley.
A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Pastor Gary Whitehead, Pastor Dexter Brummitt and Pastor Bob Campbell officiating. Music will be provided by Gail McClure. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Wednesday.
A Masonic service will follow the celebration of life.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, in the Tolley Cemetery in Limestone Cove. Active pallbearers will be Noah Campbell, Dylan Campbell, Lance Haun, Chad Johnson, Quentin Arnold, Paul Johnson and David Stonecypher. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Arnett, Roy Tolley, Larry Tolley, Jason Chambers, Lee Benefield, Larry Stanley, Timmy Lewis and Joe Birchfield. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery on Thursday.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Megan Long, nurse practitioner with State of Franklin Palliative Care, and Hannah, Becky and Megan with Amedisys Hospice for the love and compassionate care shown to Jerry during his illness.
