Roundup: Warriors can’t hold early lead, fall to West Greene 10-3

The Buffaloes scored 10 unanswered runs to erase a 3-0 Warriors lead in a game that could determine seeding later when it comes to conference tournament time.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Lane Parker and Grady Goulds hit a triple and double in the first inning. The Warriors picked up another run in the bottom of the second as Cade Kendall scored off a Drew Blevins walk.

The big inning came in the third for the Buffs when they scored six runs, aided by a couple of Warrior errors.

Blevins pitched well in the loss, throwing five innings and surrendering just five hits and earned runs. Aiden Hartsock went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Happy Valley.

Unaka 16, Tri-Cities Christian 14
Unaka scored nine in the first and five in the second en route to picking up its first win of the season.

Robert Humphrey hit a double in the bottom of the first that plated three runs. Cooper Shanks also got a hit and scored three runs for the Rangers. Conner Vines and Bradon Buckles also picked up hits.

Off the mound, Highlander Micah Gray picked up the win.

FCA Flames 10, Cloudland 0
The Flames distanced themselves in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring six runs.

Jacob Stinnett, Walker Gouge and Brayden Whitaker all had hits for the Highlanders. Gouge pitched well in the loss, surrendering only one earned run and striking out six.

Hampton 16, Johnson County 14
Trailing in the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs rallied for five runs, and with the tying run at the plate, Jaden Kuhn recorded a strikeout to end the game.

Elisha Henson drove in five runs, hitting 4-for-4 in the game. Chase Davenport had three hits and plated two from his leadoff spot as the Bulldogs improved to 2-2 on the season.

Middle School
Hampton MS 11, Johnson County MS 1
Memphis Nave picked up 11 strikeouts, allowing just one hit and one earned run as the Junior Bulldogs rolled Tuesday night.

Noah Keylon went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Nave, Isaiah Tilson and Cooper Kleinsmith all had multiple hits for Hampton MS.

Softball
Unicoi 8, Elizabethton 0
Lela Byrd chalked up 14 strikeouts for the Blue Devils, holding the Lady Cyclones scoreless as they dropped to 5-2.

Leading just 2-0, the Lady Blue Devils scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to open up the game. Jozey Reece and Mikinna Blackwell got hits for the Cyclones.

Laci Gobble took the loss, but the freshman hurler surrendered just three earned runs and recorded five strikeouts over four and a third innings.

Sevier County 12, Hampton 2
The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t keep pace with the host 4A Lady Bears, as Sevier County jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning.

Maleah Scalf, Mallory Lamb, Dru Nickles and Emma Hughes all picked up hits for the Lady Bulldogs in the loss.

Soccer
Thomas Lambert and Reece Vernon both found the back of the net twice as Elizabethton improved to 2-0-1.

Drake Teague chipped in a goal, while Lambert, Vernon, Connor Blevins and Porter Dillow recorded assists.

Tucker Taylor stood strong in the box for the Cyclones, picking up the shutout. The Cyclones will host the 3-0-1 Portland Panthers on Wednesday night.
