Bonnie “Moo” Montgomery of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 92. Bonnie was born on July 9, 1932, in Carter County to the late Roy Dugger and Bertie Andrews Honeycutt. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Montgomery, in 1991; her sisters, Beulah Burchette, Eva Honeycutt, Vallie “Bug” Richardson, and Charlene Miller; and a brother, William Dee Dugger.
Bonnie retired in 2004 from the Carter County School System as a custodian and had also worked at the UT Extension office. Bonnie was a loyal and devoted member of Valley Forge Christian Church, where she loved working in Bible School, was a member and past president of the Ladies’ Council, and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and loved spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memory include her beloved children, Darlene Ann (Billy) Price and Terry “Mudd” Montgomery and fiancé Sheila Baird, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Martha Hardin of Elizabethton; a brother, Lewis (Charlotte) Honeycutt of Hampton; two grandchildren, Aleta (Scott) Morgan of Roan Mountain and Terri Lynn Montgomery of Elizabethton; four great-grandchildren, Collin Morgan, Eli Morgan, Kaylin Morgan, and Brittany Berry; and one great-great-grandchild, Harper Berry.
Her family in Kentucky includes Tootsie and David Gregory, Gladys Richardson, Pam Gregory, Jessica and Chris Barnes, Peyton Barnes, Owen and Levi Gibbs, Nolan Fogle and Alyssa, Jarrett Fogle, Jim and Gina Gregory, Dylan Gregory, Miranda and Anthony Graham, Kelly Richardson-Suttles, Dakota and Erich Hangartner, and Elin and Quinny Hangartner. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate Bonnie’s memorable life will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Morgan, Pastor Grant Foster, and Mr. David Siebenaler, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Casey Crumley and Joel Crisp. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Friday.
The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Happy Valley Memorial Park.

Campbell, Frank Perry, Jamie Hardin, Steve Chambers, Tim Chambers, Leslie Whitehead, Danny Oliver, Keith Buck, Jason Boling, David Pinkard, Richard Tetrick, Jason Campbell, Rick Malone, Mike Malone, Ben Williams, Buster Honeycutt, Gary Smith, Mike Hyder, Greg Bowers, Richard Norris, Monk Montgomery, Brian Hill, Brian Self, Jeff Guinn, Lanny Norris, Paul Bellamy, Dale Ornduff, Terry Crain, and Kelly Crain. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
