Weekend Roundup: Warriors’ comeback falls short against Volunteer

Volunteer 8, Happy Valley 6 – The Happy Valley Warriors faced a seven-run deficit after two innings but rallied to make it a one-run game before falling 8-6 to Volunteer. Lane Parker pitched well in relief, going 4 2/3 innings while allowing one hit, two walks, and no earned runs.
In the fourth inning, the Warriors took advantage of four walks, a single by Parker, and an error to score four runs. Besides Parker, Aiden Hartsock recorded a hit.
Daniel Boone 14, Elizabethton 4 – A six-run second inning helped Daniel Boone keep the Cyclones at a comfortable distance. Carson Atkinson took the loss for Elizabethton, pitching two innings and allowing three earned runs while striking out three and walking seven.
Steven Meadows went 2-for-2 at the plate, while Blaine Tolley, Rhett Slagle, Aliester Sumner, and JD Hooks each collected base hits for the Cyclones. Elizabethton will host Dobyns-Bennett on Monday.
Johnson County 13, Unaka 2 / Johnson County 10, Unaka 0 (Doubleheader) – The Longhorns used a nine-run third inning in game one to secure the win. Kayden Blevins and Chris Reece each recorded a hit and an RBI, while Nate Dorman scored three runs. Grayson Holt picked up the win, pitching 2 2/3 innings.
In game two, Blevins and Brock Jones combined for a no-hitter to lead Johnson County to the sweep.
Karns 12, Hampton 0 – Hampton made the trip to Knoxville on Saturday but struggled offensively as Karns held the Bulldogs hitless. Parker Williams pitched two innings, allowing two earned runs and recording two strikeouts.
Soccer
Elizabethton 6, University High 2 – The Cyclones made an adjustment at halftime to their front line, which paid off as they scored four second-half goals to defeat the Bucs. Conner Blevins scored two goals and added an assist, while Thomas Lambert also netted two goals.
Porter Dillow and Drake Teague each added a goal, while Jackson Miller contributed two assists. The Cyclones will travel to Sullivan East on Tuesday.
College Flag Football
Milligan 26, Huntington 18 – Bridget Keyser threw for three touchdowns and 236 yards, leading the Lady Buffs to a win over the Lady Hawks. Krista Quinn recorded eight receptions for 110 yards, including a 59-yard catch late in the game. Ashton Whearley added a rushing touchdown and had seven flag pulls. Former Happy Valley standout Blaklee Ollis contributed four pulls.
Campbellsville 27, Milligan 24 – The Lady Buffs suffered their first loss of the season, falling to 5-1. Milligan went 0-for-4 on conversions in a back-and-forth contest. Keyser threw for 260 yards and four touchdowns in the loss, while Whearley had over 100 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Sophia Ortiz led the way with eight pulls and an interception, while Tatiana Buono added five pulls and a sack.
