VFW Post 2166 and the Post Auxiliary will partner with Second Harvest Food Bank to distribute food to veterans and their families in need on Friday, March 14, at 2 p.m. The event will take place at the VFW Post located at 2001 West Elk Ave.
Veterans attending the distribution are asked to ensure there is space in their trunk for a food box and to pop their trunk upon arrival. Volunteers will load the food box into the vehicle, allowing participants to remain in their cars. The distribution will be conducted with no person-to-person contact for health and safety reasons.
In the event of inclement weather, the distribution will follow the Elizabethton City Schools schedule. If city schools are closed due to weather, the event will be canceled.
To help ensure an adequate supply of food boxes, veterans planning to attend should call Shaun Smith at the Carter County Veterans Service Office at 542-1824 to sign up in advance.
