Joseph Edward Greenwell, 73, of Elizabethton, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 23, 1952, to the late Howard and Anna Mann Greenwell.
In his earlier years, Joseph was employed at Doyle’s Tire Service. He dedicated his life to serving others, whether it was through landscaping, auto repairs, running pharmacy errands or grocery shopping. His passion for helping people was evident in every kind act. Joseph was a member of East Fairview Free Will Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Steve Greenwell; one sister, Carolyn Bradley; two children, Rebecca Gail Devoti (Rosa) and Joseph Arthur Greenwell; and one great-granddaughter, Adelaide Arnett.
He is survived by the love of his life, Gina Hunt (Angel); his daughter, Catheryne Chlebisch (Bryce); and his grandchildren: Matthew Arnett (Jessica), Thomas Greenwell (Jessica), Rayven Robinson, Breaonna Greenwell, Stephanie Cook, Lulu Cook, Matthew Huff and Shylen Shelburne. He also leaves behind 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Funeral Chapel is serving the Greenwell family. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. It was Joseph’s wish to be cremated. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
