Rev. Paul Edward Lane, 85, Hampton, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, February 23, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 16, 1939, in Carter County to the late Clayton and Pearl Miller Lane. He had lived in Hammond, Indiana, for several years before returning to Hampton. He was a supervisor at a steel mill. He also served as a pastor for 40 years.

Rev. Lane was a member of Union Baptist Church. He was also a Mason and Shriner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Lane, and a sister, Lois Stout.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Kenneth) Heath; a son, Ron Lane; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. One sister, Doris Jenkins; four half-brothers, Grant, Roger, Danny and Bob Lane; and a half-sister, Linda Lane. A special nephew, Chad Lane, and wife, Courteney.

A service to celebrate the life of Rev. Lane will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Richard Tester officiating. Graveside service will be private. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of the James A. Quillen VA Medical Center, and Jackie and her son Bradley; the staff of Cornerstone; the staff of Amedisys Hospice; and his church family.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help with expenses.
