Bobby Joe Holcomb, 89, Hampton, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at The Waters of Bristol.
He was born July 25, 1935, in Centralia, Illinois, to the late Ralph and Mary Elizabeth Waldrop Holcomb. He had lived in Carter County for 31 years. He was retired from AT&T in Chicago. He had served in the United States Navy. His hobbies were reading, collecting items, automobiles and meeting friends. He was a member of Hampton Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Bodwell Holcomb, who passed away December 15, 2014, and by a brother, James “Buddy” Holcomb.
Survivors include his children, Roy Holcomb and Nancy (Bob) Turner; two grandchildren, Megan Turner and Caleb (Jordan) Turner; and his cat, Polly.
A service to celebrate the life of Bobby will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Hampton Christian Church with Minister Dwayne Calhoun officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery (Historic Section). Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
The family would like to thank Hampton Christian Church for the prayers and support during his illness. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Military honors will be provided. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Monday.
