A crash involving a passenger car and a Carter County Highway Department truck at approximately 6:45 a.m. Tuesday morning claimed the life of an Elizabethton man, according to the Elizabethton Police Department.

According to initial reports, the Highway Department truck, which was equipped with salt-spreading equipment, was turning left from the northbound lane of Stateline Road when a 2006 Toyota Corolla, also traveling north on Stateline Road, ran into the back of the truck.

The Corolla was occupied by one male driver, 26-year-old Bradley Aaron White of Elizabethton, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Reports indicate White was heading to work at the time of the accident. White was not wearing a seatbelt, which police said could have made a difference in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
