Mr. Billy Sams, 83, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. Billy was born in Carter County, Tennessee, and was a resident of the Valley Forge area. He was the son of the late Floyd W. Sams and Beatrice Williams Sams.
Billy graduated from Happy Valley High School in Carter County, Tennessee, and attended one year at Pan American Technical School in West Palm Beach, Florida. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1964 during the Berlin Crisis and in the Vietnam Era. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Henry Knox Field Lodge 349 in Alexandria, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kay Sams Sullivan of Maryland.
Survivors include his daughter, Angelia Kay Sams; grandson, Shane Williams; nephew, Floyd “Butch” Sullivan and wife Carrie Sullivan; children, Amanda, Dustin, and Kelly; niece, Elise Van Derloo; and many great-nieces and nephews, as well as his special companion, Mary Corral of Elizabethton.
A celebration of Billy’s life will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
The graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided at the graveside. Active pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.
Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in honor of Billy to Masonic Lodge Henry Knox Field – John Blair 349, Alexandria, Virginia 22302.
