Nancy H. Carr, 69, of Elizabethton, entered Heaven’s gates on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 13, 1955, in Hampton to the late Howard and Mabel Andrews Hardin. Prior to her illness, she was employed by the Carter County School System as a bus driver.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Ray Hardin, Carl Dwight Hardin and Howard Edward “Ed” Hardin; her late husband of 33 years, William “Grub” Carr; and her best friend, Virginia “Virgi” Johnson.
She attended Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church.
Nancy enjoyed the simple things in life, especially being outdoors, planting flowers and tending to her gardens. More than anything, she treasured time spent with family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Danny Calloway; a daughter, Danielle (Spencer) Goodwin; a brother, Jerry (Patricia) Hardin; and a grandson, Hunter Goodwin, who was the light of her life.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jamie Ferguson, Pastor Rusty Verran and Pastor Scott Greene officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, in the Hardin Cemetery, Siam Community.
Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:20 p.m. Friday, will be Danny Johnson, Dayton Buckles, Brian Mink, Henry Womack, Steven Carr and Tim Pierce.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home prior to the service.
