BRISTOL – The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones were looking to advance to Monday night’s District 1-AAA finals opposite either Crockett or Unicoi Co., but the Tennessee High Lady Vikings, who had lost two games during the regular season to the Lady Cyclones, had different plans.

With Jamira Smalls and Peyton McGee under the weather, the Lady Cyclones looked completely discombobulated as the Lady Vikings seemed to have a hand on almost every loose ball and rebound, leading to a 56-47 loss inside Viking Hall on Saturday.

Tennessee High built a 10-point first-half lead, 33-23, as Elizabethton struggled in the first quarter, recording only four points in the period.

Addie Wilhoit led the charge for the Lady Vikings in the half, recording 11 points. She had plenty of help as Jasmine Jones chipped in with eight points.

Reagan May’s seven points led Coach Lucas Andrews’ team in the scoring column in the first 16 minutes. Adrian Heading and Rylee May each tallied three in the half.

The Lady Cyclones looked like they were going to make a game of it in the second half as they cut what had been an 18-point lead down to two points early in the fourth quarter before Tennessee High responded by taking advantage of trips to the charity stripe to keep Elizabethton at arm’s length.

Wilhoit finished with a game-high 18 points in the victory for Tennessee High. Jones was on Wilhoit’s heels with 17 for the game.

Elizabethton was paced by Reagan May, who finished with 14 points. Jasy Shell played huge for the Lady Cyclones, scoring 11 as she nailed three treys in the contest.

Heading and Smalls registered seven points apiece, while Rylee May and McGee closed out the scoring with six and two points, respectively.

Elizabethton plays Unicoi Co. at 6 p.m. for third place inside Viking Hall on Monday. The winner will travel to the District 2-AAA second-place finisher, while the loser of that game will hit the road to the District 2-AAA champion.
