The Elizabethton Parks and Recreation, Main Street Elizabethton, and the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library are partnering to celebrate the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.
Children and their parents are invited to join sponsoring staff in downtown Elizabethton on Saturday, March 1, to participate in Seuss on the Loose. This event celebrates the works of Dr. Seuss in commemoration of his birthday.
To participate, start your journey at the Elizabethton-Carter County Public Library to pick up your Sneetch Sheet. Participants will visit a variety of stops downtown at local businesses. Along the way, participants will encounter guest book readers, characters, crafts, decorations, and themed treats.
Participating businesses include: August Muse, Carter County Bank, Elizabethton Alliance Church, Riverside Taphouse, The Curious Moon Apothecary, and The Wicked Whit Metaphysical.
Once each stop is visited on the Sneetch Sheet, participants will head back down to Covered Bridge Park to continue the fun. Turn in your completed Sneetch Sheets for a chance to win prizes and enjoy the park and all it has to offer.
Elizabethton Parks and Recreation will transform the park into pages straight from the books of Dr. Seuss and bring along guests such as the Cat in the Hat and the Grinch! The library will have free books while supplies last. Special community partners will also be set up throughout the park with fun giveaways, along with free inflatables sponsored by the Elizabethton Chamber of Commerce.
Community partners include Elizabethton River Riders, Hands On Discovery Center, Northeast Community Credit Union, and Girl Scouts of Southern Appalachians.
