Virginia “Thelma” Taylor, 83, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Dominion Senior Living of Bristol. She was born November 8, 1941, on Buck Mountain to the late Claude and Emma Brewer Timbs. She was a graduate of Elizabethton High School.

Thelma was retired from the Johnson City Post Office as a mail carrier. She loved canning, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Louis Vaughn “Von” Taylor, who died April 5, 2021; two brothers, Haskel Timbs and Brady Timbs; and five sisters, Marie Thompson, Wanda Pickering, Evelyn Helton, Anna Bare and Janice Stanbery. She was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne (Eddie) Archer and Lisa (Pat) McGinnis; two grandchildren, Logan (Rylee) Archer and Lauryn Grace McGinnis; great-grandchildren, Stetson Archer and baby Archer, coming in August; three brothers, Houston (Betty) Timbs, Harold Timbs and Robert (Peggy) Timbs; and four sisters, Dawn Grubbs, Retha (George) Williams, Jean Garrett and Sue (Dave) Schmidt. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Blevins Cemetery with Pastor Tyler Street and Pastor Nick Colbaugh officiating. Music will be provided by Amy and Libby Ensor.

Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, will be Eddie Archer, Logan Archer, Pat McGinnis, Nicholas Gass, Robert Timbs, Dale Colbaugh, Randal Lewis and Tommy Verran. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family, friends and neighbors.

Friends may register their presence at the funeral home from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday.
