Basketball is still being played, and there is a forecast of snow this week, but it’s also baseball season, a sure sign of spring. While this week’s weather forecast might lead you to think otherwise, you can rest assured that spring begins in just a matter of weeks, in mid-March.
High school and college baseball games are being played every week, and spring practice has begun for Major League Baseball teams. Yes, NCAA basketball games are also being played in anticipation of tournament time in March.
Of the many sure signs of spring that we see every year, the return of baseball always proves to be the most reliable.

However, baseball aficionados came back to baseball because it is a fun and exciting game.
One of Elizabethton’s own baseball stars, Evan Carter, will be back on the field this year playing for the Texas Rangers. The spring baseball training season will begin Friday, Feb. 21, for the Rangers, who will play the Royals.

Just as every sport has its rules, it has its own set of fans and season. And it just so happens that springtime announces baseball, which will linger into the fall season.
Spring is the season of new beginnings, and baseball is a good way to begin the spring season… but until then, you might want to throw some snowballs this week. The promise: Spring is on its way.
