KNOXVILLE — The 2025 Tennessee Interscholastic Swimming Coaches’ Association (TISCA) State Championships concluded Saturday at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center, with Baylor claiming the girls’ and combined team titles, while McCallie secured the boys’ championship.

Baylor edged Ensworth in the girls’ competition, tallying 263 points to Ensworth’s 245. Ravenwood placed third with 183.5 points. McCallie dominated the boys’ meet with 380 points, fending off Baylor’s 360.5. Montgomery Bell Academy finished a distant third with 167 points. In the combined team standings, Baylor reigned supreme with 623.5 points, nearly doubling runner-up Ensworth’s 383.

Holgerson’s Record-Breaking Performance

Pope John Paul II’s Blake Amlicke made history in the 100-yard backstroke, clocking 46.45 to erase Spencer Nicholas’ 2024 mark. Baylor’s 400 freestyle relay team of Ethan Gover, Jonathan Smith, Luke Waldrep and Hayden Vicknair also set a new standard, touching the wall in 2:59.41 to break their school’s 2018 record.

Special Honors and Scholarship Announcement

Holgerson was named the Men’s Swimmer of the Year, while Ensworth’s Lilly Robertson took home Women’s Swimmer of the Year honors. Webb Knoxville’s Brooks Barber and Bearden’s Sarah Griffith earned Diver of the Year awards.

Coaching accolades went to McCallie’s Stan Corcoran (Boys’ Coach of the Year), Roger Dahlke of Girls Preparatory School (Girls’ Coach of the Year) and Knoxville’s Nick Rusek (Diving Coach of the Year).

At the conclusion of the meet, TISCA announced the creation of the Tom Schumann Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded annually to two seniors who excel in swimming and service to the community. The scholarship honors the late Tom Schumann, a longtime advocate for Tennessee swimming who passed away in late 2024.

All-American and All-State Honors

Tennessee swimmers posted 40 NISCA automatic All-American performances, with 48 additional swims earning All-American consideration. Final selections will be announced in the summer.
