Claudetta “Claudette” Campbell, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, and her husband, Jimmy E. Campbell, 81, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Claudette was born August 24, 1944, in Butler to the late Claude and Bertha Rainbolt Whaley. She was a secretary at Little Milligan Elementary School for several years, where she was a substitute grandma for everyone. She was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Whaley, and two sisters, Loretta Rhinehart and Diane Poole.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jim Campbell; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Sharon Campbell; one granddaughter, Elaina Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was born April 26, 1943, in Butler to the late Percy and Bonnie Bunton Campbell. He was a 1961 graduate of Hampton High School. He was a supervisor at North American Rayon Corporation for several years. He loved to hunt and was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Claudette; one sister, Carolyn White; and a brother, Robert Don Campbell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate the lives of Claudetta “Claudette” and Jimmy Campbell will be conducted at 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Faith at Happy Valley Memorial Park at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Music will be provided by David Arney, pianist. Active pallbearers for her will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the faculty and all the students who attended Little Milligan Elementary School. Active pallbearers for him will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be former employees of North American Rayon Corporation and his hunting buddies.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:20 p.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
