The Carter County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of longtime employee and beloved School Resource Officer Salvatore Caccamo.
Caccamo dedicated his life to public service, beginning his law enforcement career in Florida before retiring in 2009 and moving to Tennessee. However, his commitment to serving others led him to join the Carter County Sheriff’s Office as a volunteer in the Reserve Deputy program. In 2011, he became a full-time employee with the department, working in the Corrections, Court Security, and Patrol divisions before finding his true passion as a School Resource Officer.
“He dedicated his life to public service, and he loved his country, his community, and most importantly, the kids and staff at Hampton High School,” Sheriff Mike Fraley said. “He will always be remembered for his love of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and our community. Please keep his fellow officers, the SROs, his family, his friends, and the students and staff of Hampton High School in your prayers as they grieve the loss of this wonderful and loving officer.”
