Claudetta “Claudette” Campbell, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She was born Aug. 24, 1944, in Butler to the late Claude and Bertha Rainbolt Whaley.
She was a secretary at Little Milligan Elementary School for several years, where she was a substitute grandma for everyone. She was a member of Little Milligan Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Whaley, and two sisters, Loretta Rhinehart and Diane Poole.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jim Campbell; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Sharon Campbell; and one granddaughter, Elaina Campbell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Claudetta “Claudette” will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Campbell officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum of Faith at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be by David Arney, pianist.
Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the faculty and all the students who attended Little Milligan Elementary School.
