Lady Cyclones drop Lady Vikings, forcing second-place tie

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones knew they had one last shot at pulling even with the Tennessee High Lady Vikings in the last game of the regular-season Region 1-3A schedule, and they took full advantage.
With four players hitting double figures, the Lady Cyclones tattooed the Lady Vikings with a 63-43 defeat inside John Treadway Gym Friday evening.
Both teams are knotted with a 4-3 overall record in region play, with one non-conference game remaining for Elizabethton.
Elizabethton worked hard in building a 29-17 lead by halftime to show the Lady Cyclones meant business.
Jamira Smalls paced the attack by scoring eight in the opening half for the Lady Cyclones. Smalls had plenty of help as Rylee May added seven points, with Reagan May and Kayleyn Nave chipping in five points.
Chase Wolfenbarger’s five points led the visitors.
The Lady Cyclones kept their foot on the gas in the second half by outscoring Tennessee High 34-26 to keep the game out of reach for the Lady Vikings.
Reagan May led the Lady Cyclone charge, registering 15 points, while Smalls was close behind with 14.
Rylee May and Nave tallied 11 points apiece for Coach Lucas Andrews’ squad.
Peyton McGee dropped two treys to finish with six points, while Adrian Heading added four points. Jasy Shell closed out the scoring with two points.
Addie Wilhoit caught fire in the second half for Tennessee High as she finished with a game-high 20 points, hitting three treys in the second half.

Wolfenbarger and Kerigan West scored six points each for the visitors.

After a fast start offensively for both teams in the first half, the Elizabethton Cyclones hit a cold spell in the second half as Tennessee High pulled away for an easy 22-point win over the Cyclones.

The win kept the visitors undefeated in the region, while Elizabethton maintained hold on the second seed for Region 1-3A.

Tennessee High had 14 threes in the contest. Colin Brown led the charge with a game-high 23 points for the visitors. Zander Phillips tossed in 15 points.

Hudson Pate was the lone Cyclone in double figures as the guard dumped in 18 points. Justin Whitehead finished with nine, while Nathan Bailey and Hudson Smith each totaled eight points.

Andrew Barnett (7), Zach Wallin (2), and Justius Wallin (1) closed out the scoring for the Cyclones.
