Carter County Sheriff’s Department reports arrests

The following arrests have been reported by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office: 

Feb. 5, 2025

  • James Clayton Hardin was arrested at Sinking Creek Baptist Church in Johnson City on a Violation of Probation warrant from Carter County General Sessions Court. He was transported to the Carter County Detention Center without incident.

Feb. 4, 2025

  • Angela D. Grindstaff-Taylor was arrested on Highway 91 for criminal impersonation, driving on a revoked license, and failure to provide proof of insurance. She also had two active warrants for failure to appear. She was transported to the Carter County Detention Center.
  • John William Ressler turned himself in at the Carter County Detention Center on a domestic violence warrant.
  • Toby Ray Cooper voluntarily surrendered at the Carter County Detention Center on a Violation of Probation warrant.

Feb. 2, 2025

  • Charles W. Campbell Jr. was arrested at a residence on Commodore Avenue on a Failure to Appear warrant from Carter County General Sessions Court.

Feb. 1, 2025

  • James David Bowers was arrested at Walmart on Overmountain Drive for Violation of Probation and taken to the Carter County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
  • Meghan Paige Smallman was transferred from Washington County authorities to Carter County and held on a $25,000 bond for Violation of Probation.
  • John Raymond Dennis was arrested at a residence on Coal Chute Road on a child support attachment warrant and taken to the Carter County Detention Center on a $250 cash bond.
  • Benjamin Brian Rasnake was arrested on Old Charity Hill Road on a presentment warrant for theft of property valued between $2,500 and $10,000.
  • Samuel Garrison was arrested in Johnson City on Elizabethton Highway for Failure to Appear in a misdemeanor case.
  • Kim Crawford Smithdeal was arrested on W G Street for Failure to Appear in a misdemeanor case and held on a $25,000 straight bond.

Jan. 31, 2025

  • Stephanie E. Mitter was arrested on a Failure to Appear warrant at a residence on Milligan Lane.
  • Jennifer W. Waters was arrested on Sugar Hollow Road in Roan Mountain for assault on a first responder and resisting arrest after allegedly pushing a deputy.

Jan. 30, 2025

  • Daniel Allan Edmison was arrested in Elizabethton for violating the sex offender registry and held on a $20,000 bond.

Jan. 29, 2025

  • Rebecca Anna Sue Clawson was arrested for criminal trespassing at a residence on Stuarts Road in Roan Mountain. She was given a $1,500 bond.
  • Tonya Lynn Fitzgerald was arrested on Fairview Road in Hampton on a fugitive warrant from North Carolina and was held pending extradition.
  • Haley Danielle Lingerfelt was transferred from Washington County authorities on a Failure to Appear warrant and taken to Carter County Detention Center.

Jan. 28, 2025

  • Tony W. Hardin was arrested for DUI and violation of implied consent law after being stopped on Hwy 19E Bypass.

Jan. 27, 2025

  • Christy N. Hopson was arrested in Hampton on a Violation of Probation warrant.
  • Brandon Keith Ollis was charged as a fugitive from justice in Elizabethton after completing his sentence in Carter County. He was held on a detainer from McDowell County, N.C.
  • Timothy R. McKinney was arrested on Pearl Bowers Road in Elizabethton for Failure to Appear.

Jan. 26, 2025

  • James Eric Hartley turned himself in at the Carter County Detention Center on a Failure to Appear warrant.
  • Tina Michelle Bray was arrested at The Hamptons RV Park in Hampton on three counts of attachment for child support.

Jan. 25, 2025

  • Benjamin Dale Pearson was arrested in Hampton on Highway 321 for violating an order of protection, possessing drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.
  • Cody Kenneth Chambers was arrested in Elizabethton on a child support attachment warrant.
  • Brandon Keith Ollis was arrested at a storage facility on Bristol Highway for criminal impersonation after allegedly providing a false identity.
  • Vernon Jilton was arrested for public intoxication near East Fourth Avenue in Watauga.

Jan. 24, 2025

  • Samuel Hughes was arrested in Roan Mountain for domestic violence and public intoxication after allegedly assaulting his mother.

Jan. 20, 2025

  • Patrick Francis Fallon was arrested in Elizabethton for first-offense DUI after reckless driving on West Elk Avenue.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
