The Carter County Long-Term Recovery Group (LTRG) will host a partner meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. in The Forge at Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church, located at 1503 Riverview Dr. in Elizabethton. The meeting is open to individuals and partner agencies with the capacity to provide resources or assistance for long-term recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

“Since Sept. 27, much progress has occurred, but many still face great need,” said Travis Tyler, chairman of the Carter County LTRG and pastor of Grace Baptist Church. “Our mountainous communities lost 74 homes, and hundreds more sustained major damage. We aim to rebuild and restore by connecting resources with those most affected.”

The meeting will provide essential updates on ongoing recovery work and offer opportunities for volunteers and agencies to engage with specific community needs.

“We deeply appreciate the volunteers, churches, nonprofits and community partners who stepped up in extraordinary ways after Hurricane Helene,” Tyler said. “Now, we must focus on long-term recovery efforts, rebuilding lives and communities for a better tomorrow. Anyone willing to donate time, skills or resources can play a vital role in this ongoing recovery.”

The Carter County LTRG is a volunteer-led collaboration involving faith-based organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, businesses and civic groups, all working together to help individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Helene. The group’s committees focus on areas such as donations, spiritual and emotional support, advocacy, communications, case management, unmet needs, agriculture, volunteer coordination, construction, and economic/workforce recovery.
