The following arrests have been reported by the Elizabethton Police Department:
Shoplifting Arrests at Walmart
Feb. 1, 2025 | 1001 Overmountain Drive
At 7:19 p.m. on Feb. 1, Elizabethton police responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart. Loss prevention identified Stacy L. Jaynes as a suspect who allegedly failed to scan multiple items at self-checkout. The total value of the unscanned merchandise was $228. Jaynes was issued a citation/summons for shoplifting under $1,000 and given a court date of March 3, 2025, in Carter County General Sessions Court.
Feb. 5, 2025 | 1001 Overmountain Drive
At 6:47 p.m., Elizabethton police responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart. Loss Prevention identified Helen Renee Burrow and Keyla B. Lyons as suspects who allegedly failed to scan multiple items at self-checkout. Both women were cited for shoplifting under $1,000 and given a court date of March 3, 2025.
At 5:44 p.m., officers arrested Lori Ann Haws for allegedly concealing merchandise inside folded towels at Walmart. The total value of stolen goods was $76.07. Haws was issued a criminal summons and a court date of March 3, 2025.
At 12:57 p.m., police cited Amy Michelle Cooke for allegedly switching barcodes to lower prices on items at Walmart. The total value of the shoplifted items was $91.33. Cooke was given a court date of March 3, 2025.
On Feb. 4, at 1:10 p.m., Dylan A. Shedrick and Meghan Demers were cited for shoplifting $111.83 worth of merchandise from Walmart. Both were given court dates for March 3, 2025.
DUI and Hit-and-Run Arrest

Police arrested Louis D. Stout at 5:52 p.m. for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and open container violations after he allegedly struck another vehicle and fled. Officers found Stout in a Walmart parking lot, where he displayed signs of intoxication. A blood draw was conducted, and Stout was booked into the Carter County jail with a court date set for March 3, 2025.
Suspended License Citation
Feb. 4, 2025 | Hwy. 67
Police cited Baucom Samuel Earl for driving with a suspended out-of-state license following a two-vehicle crash. Earl was given a court date of March 3, 2025.
Public Intoxication Arrest
Feb. 1, 2025 | W. G St.
Leah Vines Anderson was arrested for public intoxication at 5:03 a.m. after multiple calls reported a woman knocking on doors and acting erratically. Officers determined Anderson was under the influence of narcotics and transported her to jail without incident.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
