Rep. Diana Harshbarger (TN-01) this week reintroduced the bipartisan American Music Tourism Act with co-lead Rep. Nanette Barragán (CA-44). Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) reintroduced the companion bill in the Senate.
The American Music Tourism Act of 2025 would require the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Travel and Tourism to implement a plan to support and increase music tourism for domestic and international visitors. The Act would also require the Assistant Secretary to report to Congress on the success and vulnerabilities of the Assistant Secretary’s goals to increase travel and tourism.
Notably, this bill will not cost any additional taxpayer dollars to implement.
Rep. Harshbarger released the following statement.
“Whether it’s Morgan Wallen or Dolly Parton, Tennessee has a storied history colored by country music icons. Our state has a past and present that invites people from all over the nation and the world to visit and learn more about country music. From Dollywood in Pigeon Force to the Birthplace of Country Music in Bristol, my district plays a vital role in Tennessee’s music tourism industry, so I’m proud to lead the charge alongside Rep. Barragán in the House for this bill.
“I’m especially thankful to Sen. Blackburn for continuing to be my partner in the Senate as we both fight for this impactful legislation.”
