Teresa Lee Sluder Singleton was born on May 9, 1965 in Elizabethton, Tenn. Teresa passed away peacefully at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va., on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Teresa was diagnosed with melanoma in March of 2021 and fought a long hard battle with cancer for almost four years. Teresa was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn.
Teresa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruby and Wilburn Wagner, and grandparents, Burl Lee Sluder Sr. and Hester Sluder; aunt, Shirley Dugger; uncle, Rondal “Bud” Wagner; uncle, Bill Wagner; uncle, Stanley Snyder; and mother-in-law, Ann Singleton.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 37 years, Randy Singleton; daughter, Laurel Lefemine and husband Vito Lefemine; her parents, Burl and Connie Sluder; her sister, Elizabeth Sluder; and her father-in-law, Frank Singleton and wife Brenda Singleton.
Teresa was loved and will continue to be loved by everyone that met her. She had a bright sparkling personality and knew how to make anyone feel comforted despite the circumstances. Special friends and her church family will also cherish her memory. Teresa was a member of Siam Baptist Church where she also served as the Ministry Assistant since October 2013. Prior to serving at the church, Teresa worked in the banking industry for over 20 years at Carter County Bank and Bank of Tennessee. Teresa was a 1983 graduate of Elizabethton High School and obtained her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Business Administration from Milligan University in 1998.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff at the University of Tennessee Medical Center for caring for Teresa and assisting her with her fight against cancer. The family would also like to thank the medical staff at Johnston Memorial Hospital and Sycamore Shoals Hospital for caring for Teresa. Teresa was known for making anyone she met smile and could make a friend anywhere. Teresa’s motto during her battle with cancer was “God’s got this.” Teresa’s favorite Bible verse was 1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is Love.” Teresa’s faith is what gives her loved ones hope. They know that she is no longer suffering and is with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A celebration of life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 25, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Pastor Brian Holloway and Rev. Dean Smith officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
