Hollywood mocks God, then L.A. burns, don’t mock God

To the Editor:
There have been many mocking God in America. California has likely been the leading state for mocking God because its leadership and Hollywood often appear pagan or aligned with a demonic occult. However, all taxpayers in California have contributed to this environment by funding actions that mock God. California taxpayers fund abortion and gender surgeries, both of which mock God. Additionally, California ranks number one for child trafficking and occult practices. The state has also been at the forefront of advancing the LGBTQ agenda, which aligns with DEI initiatives.
Romans 1 says those who encourage or take pleasure in evil deserve the same judgment. The Bible discusses a tipping point for receiving God’s judgment. It may have arrived at the 2025 Golden Globes Awards show in California on Jan. 5, 2025, when Nikki Glaser openly mocked God and the movie stars laughed. Two days later, California experienced the most destructive fires in L.A. history, fueled by record-breaking winds.
It would be wise to leave California. Those breathing the fire smoke may suffer lung damage, and those inhaling the fake fog may experience worse physical harm. Only Jesus can bring beauty from ashes. However, you will never know the beauty Jesus can create from your ashes or a broken life until you give it to Him.
Many are debating whether the fires resulted from incompetent leaders focusing on DEI above fire safety, climate change, or God’s judgment. I believe the evidence points to God’s judgment, God removing His hand of protection, and California reaping what it has sown. Certainly, there are incompetent leaders and evil people, and homeless individuals started the fires. California has the highest number of homeless people, who start the majority of all wildfires.
God judged Israel by allowing their enemies to burn their cities. Jeremiah 34 says, “Behold, I will give this city to the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.” Hebrews 12 says, “For our God is a consuming fire.” In Luke 13, Jesus addressed two disasters with His disciples—one natural and one man-made. Jesus said they were warnings and a call to repent. He said, “Except you repent, you shall all likewise perish!” If you repent, God will relent.
Hollywood mocks God, then L.A. burns. The Bible says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” California is reaping what it has sown. John Lennon of the Beatles said, “We are more famous than Jesus,” and four years later, he was shot six times. Marilyn Monroe told Billy Graham, “I don’t need your Jesus,” and a week later, she was found dead. Thomas Andrews, the Titanic’s shipbuilder, said, “Even God couldn’t sink the ship.” President Franklin Roosevelt, when asked by a reporter if he would help Israel become a nation, said, “Never.” The next day, Roosevelt was dead, and the new president, Truman, said he would help Israel.
God will have the last word and the laugh, as Psalm 2 says. God’s purposes will prevail. You have a choice: you can reap what you have sown and pay for your sins forever in Hell. A better choice is to accept the free gift of salvation from Jesus, reap what Jesus sowed, and enjoy eternal life. Either way, there will be justice.
